5th Grade Events Update

Fifth grade families,

As our school year comes to a close, we wanted to send a quick reminder of the remaining events for the school year.

Thursday, May 16th – 5th Grade Day
Students will participate in a variety of fun activities throughout the day to commemorate the last few days of 5th grade. Lunch will be provided to all. Students should wear a Teasley spirit shirt or standard attire shirt and school appropriate bottoms. **The activities are scheduled to take place outdoors weather permitting. Your child may bring a change of clothes to change at the end of the day if necessary.**

Monday, May 21st 5th Grade Luncheon
Students will be treated to Chick-Fil-A during their normal lunch period. Due to limited space, parents are not invited to attend.  Because this is a potential retest day for the GA Milestone Assessment, there will be no visitors in the school until after 12:00.

Tuesday, May 22nd 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony (8:15AM in the Teasley Cafe)
All 5th grade students will be recognized at this special ceremony. Students should dress to impress. Dresses, dress pants, blazers, suits, and ties are encouraged. NO JEANS PLEASE! Parents are invited to attend a brief reception in the café immediately following the ceremony. Teachers will have sign out sheets at the reception. You are welcome to sign your child out for the remainder of the day following the promotion ceremony. Please remember, Tuesday is an early release day.  In addition, it is a voting day and Teasley is a polling precinct. For this reason, all activities will be limited to the cafeteria.

Wednesday, May 23rd 5th Grade Walk (12:05 PM through the halls of Teasley)
Students will make their final walk through Teasley as we send them on to middle school. The walk will begin at 12:05 and dismissal will begin promptly at 12:20. Students are encouraged to wear their class shirt and standard attire bottoms. If you are taking your child with you following the walk, please sign your child out with your teacher.  Thank you!

Thank you for a wonderful year! We look forward to seeing you as we close out the school year next week.

It’s that time of year again!!

Testing Information

For testing please keep all cell phones and smart watches at home or on off inside your child's backpack.

We hope that all of our families had a great Spring Break!!  We look forward to seeing our students on Monday!!  A reminder that the GA Milestone Assessment begins for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on Tuesday, April 10th.  Because we will have multiple testing sessions going in the building and will be testing the majority of the day, we ask that we not have visitors for lunch on Tuesday through Thursday, April 10 - 12 as well as Monday & Tuesday, April 16th & 17th.  Our lunch and specials schedule is different on those days and we will have testing going on all around the building.  For that reason, we ask that we not have visitors on those days. Thank you for your understanding!!

For our state testing, I want to make sure that all students receive the opportunity to have a healthy breakfast.  For this reason, I would love for some parents to help donate a few items.  Each day I will have a fun note for the kids related to the snacks.   I will provide breakfast for the students on Tuesday April 10.  We have 21 students, so we will need enough for each child to receive a snack each day.  As always, I truly appreciate all of your help in making this year, the best one yet; 5th grade rocks!

Please sign up by clicking on the link below.

In addition to this, if you have completed the daily notes for your child (found inside the testing information envelope I sent home the Friday before break) please be sure to send them in to school tomorrow so that I can pass them out to your child when they get to school each day.

Thank you again for everything that you do!

Read Across America Day

I hope you are having a great week. Friday is Read Across America Day. In celebration of this day, the 5th grade teachers are dressing up as characters from the beloved children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We would like to invite our students to participate in the fun. All 5th graders are invited to dress up as the most memorable characters from the book, the Oompa Loompas. There are many DIY ideas for this costume on Pinterest and Google. There are also wigs and green hairspray on sale for cheap at Target in the dollar spot and at Party City due to the approaching St. Patrick’s Day holiday. I will purchase some white tape that we can use to make the suspenders for the shirts if your child would like to bring in a brown shirt to prepare for the costume on Thursday or Friday.

If your child would like to dress up as a different book character, that is perfectly fine. Please be sure to send in the book associated with the costume.

Let me know if you have any questions! As always, thank you for your support. I will get a group picture to share with all of you on Friday.

DRESS DOWN DAY FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH!!!

Good Afternoon Teasley Families! We will be having a DRESS DOWN DAY this Friday, Feb 2nd to benefit Black History Month activities. For $1, Student may wear their favorite school appropriate outfit!

Flu and Heath Update

Teasley Families - we want to make sure you are aware of the information provided by School Health Services that may help stop the spread of the flu. Please take time to visit this webpage for the tips and information they have provided. If a child has a lowgrade fever or they are not feeling well, we ask you to please keep them at home.  Those who have the flu (with or without fever) are highly contagious. Please know that we are all working hard at Teasley to disinfect classrooms and sanitize door knobs, hallway and stair railings and other public surfaces.  We hope you all stay well during this flu season!!

On a side note, our class has been going strong (no absences due to illness in a week or so) and I hope to keep it that way.  If your child does end up getting the Flu and you get this confirmed with a doctor, please let me know so that I can take further action to disinfect my classroom.

Thank you!
