Good Day Teasley Parents,
We are gearing up for our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.
Our fabulous 2nd Graders will entertain us with song, dance and spoken
word as we honor those who have served our country. All are welcome to
attend our celebration November 2nd at 6:30 in the Teasley Gym.
We would love to recognize moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and
uncles, neighbors and family friends who have served in any branch of the
military at our program. If you know of anyone who would be a great
honoree, please have them to sign up using the Google Link below. We are
hoping for a great turn out. It will be an honor to see and shake hands
of all who have served.
Deadline for honorees is November 1st.
Thank you so much for spreading the word about our program and we
hope that you will join us.

Music Update from Mrs. Mungin
Hello Parents,
It is with excitement
that I let you know that we have started our Recorder Karate unit. This
is an ongoing until the end of 2017. All students in 4th and 5th grades
are required to play the recorder. By now you should have all signed and
returned a Recorder Karate letter with a rubric and objectives outlined for the
unit. Students are asked to practice six days for 15 minutes. This
is how your child’s grade will be determined for this nine weeks. Failure
to turn in practice logs and test recorder songs will result in a failing
grade. Therefore, your child always has homework which are practicing
their Recorder Karate songs.
Please help me assist
your child with their music playing. I know as a team the both of us can
help your child achieve a level of playing that they will be very happy with.
If you have questions,
first please refer to parent letter in your child’s music folder and then email
me if your question is not addressed in the letter.
Thanks

This month, students are learning how to be thinkers. A think is someone who takes initiative to think about problems critically and creatively to make reasonable, ethical decisions. We read the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba.
Please watch this Ted Talk about how William Kamkwaba harnessed the wind, and how he was a real life example of a thinker.

It's that time of year! I am so excited to invite you into our classroom for our Fall conference. Please sign up for an available conference time. Students are REQUIRED to attend the conference, as they will facilitate the discussion. School will be dismissed at 12:20 for the entire week of conferences. Please plan accordingly.
Conferences will last TWENTY MINUTES each. We must remain on schedule out of respect for everyone's time.
